Pixi Summer Makeup Essentials

Quick Fix Powder

Loose powder is great, as it is so finely milled it not only sits better on the face but also tends to offer better oil control - however it is messy. Given the chance most of us would rather not cart around a loose powder in our handbag's through fear of a powder explosion. Well Pixi have offered a solution enter, Pixi Quick Fix Powder - a translucent (suitable for all), light setting powder that not only sets the make-up but controls excess sebum to boot.

To use you simply dab the sponge all over the face or in required areas for a matte yet natural finish. The great thing about this there is no mess, the applicator is in-built so you can travel light. If ever there was a loose powder perfect for travel this is it.

Makeup Fixing Mist

As someone with oily skin the Summer weather, especially humid conditions is not my friend as far as make-up is concerned. I don't particularly want to nor enjoy constantly applying pressed powder throughout the day, to prevent make-up from all but melting off my face so I do rely on setting sprays. I realise that not everyone likes Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray for whatever reason so let me offer up an alternative in Pixi Make Up Fixing Mist.

Much like most make-up setting sprays you apply Pixi Make Up Fixing Mist after you have finished your make-up to keep things in place but did you know you can use it as a primer? Simply mist on the skin before make-up application, allow to dry and apply make-up as usual. Pixi Make Up Fixing Mist has been formulated so it also refreshes and hydrates the skin using rose water and green tea extracts and can be used throughout the day for that reason alone, much like other cooling facial mists.

have also found that it really does work it keeps my make-up from not only sliding off my face but to some extent also offers a little oil control without parching my skin of natural moisture, nor altering the finish of any make-up it is applied on top of. As a matter of a fact I would deem this to be fairly hydrating without overwhelming the complexion. I will admit that it is not as heavy duty or as long lasting as the Urban Decay option but then again it does offer more skin care benefits.
If you are on the look out for a facial spray that pretty much does it all, Pixi Make Up Fixing Mist is one to invest within. It not only suitably sets the skin but it can double up as a primer, facial refresher and so much more. Impressive however you look at it.

Multi Balm

All the Pixi Multibalms have the same ingredients regardless of colour. The main ingredients in the Multibalms are emollients from various forms of waxes and oils (Ricinus Communis Seed Oil, Candelilla Cera, Cera Alba, Ozokerite, Copernicia Cerifera Cera), a variety of emollient esters (Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Isopropyl Isostearate, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2), some of which double up also as emulsifiers, some shimmer (Mica), and an absorbent (Silica). After this we hit the preservative (Phenoxyethanol), so we know that we've looked at the main ingredients.

After Phenoxyethanol, there are the ingredients present in smaller amounts, which include Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate), more emollients (Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter), plant extracts (Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract), Vitamin C (Ascorbyl Palmitate), and colourants (Titanium Dioxide, D&C Red 6 Ba. Lake, D&C Red 7 Ca. Lake, Iron Oxides).

I have to say, I am thoroughly impressed it is flattering and extremely wearable across a wide spectrum of skintones and undertones.

Additionally, I really loved the sheer but buildable pigmentation, as well as the very blendable texture, because it makes the shades so much easier to work with. In particular, potentially difficult shades like Soft Strawberry and Sheer Sculpt so much easier to work with, as you can build up the intensity of your flushed cheeks without looking like a clown, and any contouring marks you make can be easily blended out to make it look natural.

Nourishing Lip Polish

This 2-in-1 lip exfoliator + nourisher helps to repair & protect dry, sensitive lips. Luxe, nutrient-rich formula smoothes lips with shea butter & a blend of sweet almond, apricot, and evening primrose oils. The unique massage applicator stimulates circulation, giving a healthy, plumped effect.

This is a really unique mess-free lip scrub...I love it!

When I first purchased this, I assumed it was like any other lip scrub...a balm with a gritty texture that I'd apply from the tube and then use my finger to scrub it back and forth on my lips before tissuing it off.

But then I opened the cap and realized that the applicator is the part that scrubs. It has little silicone nubbies that are flexible so they move back and forth as you move it across your lips. It feels really soft and not scratchy at all, and it feels like you're giving your lips a nice massage. Once you're finished, your lips look a little plumper due to increased circulation, although the effect is temporary.

The balm inside is liquidy, more like like a gloss and it feels silky smooth and hydrating. It also tastes sweet, like sugar! There's no mess involved in applying this at all, just swipe it back and forth and then leave it on as a treatment balm. I like to use it just before bed and then leave the balm on overnight.

Love Me Beauty July Edit

This months subscription from Love Me Beauty really was an exciting one, there was so many lovely items included in this months bag!

~ The first item is a brush from Eco Tools

The COMPLEXION BUFFER is designed with a flat, blunt bristle cut to evenly apply, blend and buff product for a streak-free finish. Using the flat top of brush, buff product across face using small circular motions. For more definition around cheeks, use the outside rim of the bristles and blend out toward hairline.

~ There was a nail polish from Nails Inc which is one of my favorite nail polish brands, this was in a lovey baby pink shade

Formula: The formula is good, relatively fast drying and highly pigmented. You’ll get fully opaque coverage in just 2 thin coats, which is fantastic for a light blue polish. The manufacturers also say that the formula is alcohol free and is enriched with Nails inc’s patented Regenerating Complex that boosts the production of keratin for stronger and healthier nails. I can’t really comment whether it had any effect on my nails yet as I’ve been only wearing it for 5 days. But I certainly like the idea of a nail strengthening nail polish.

Application: It’s relatively easy to apply but the formula is on a thicker side. So you end up with way too much nail polish on a brush when you take it out of the bottle. Even if you wipe off the excess polish from the brush it tend to flood the nail easily. The brush is great, – wide and rounded

Finish/Colour: Nails Inc Regents Place is a vivid cornflower blue. It’s a classic creme polish. Not quite “high shine finish”, as advertised, but rather moderately glossy. So you’d definitely need a layer or two of a top coat to get the glossy salon-like look.

~ There was a eye mask from Rodial, this is their Dragon's Blood Eye Mask, this is loved by Ellie Goulding

The Rodial Dragons Blood Eye Masks are a recent addition to the Dragons Blood range, and are said to combine the expertise in bio-cellulose technology and their unique dragons blood complex to intensely hydrate and moisturise the eye area. The dragons blood extract works as a second skin whilst soothing and repairing the skin cells. the Hyaluronic Acid works instantly to plump and hydrate to help the eyes appear firmer, plumper and younger. The Eye Masks also contain Arnica Extract which helps to reduce the look of under-eye puffiness and dark circles for an instant brighter-eyed appearance. The pack contains 8 sachets, and in each sachet there are two eye masks so there are enough masks for eight separate treatments. To use the masks, you simply remove the plastic sheet from the back of each tear shaped mask and then apply to the skin underneath the eye, with the narrower side towards the nose and your inner eye corner, and the wider end being next to your outer eye corner. Once in place, you remove the protective fabric sheet and leave the masks in place for 20-30 minutes and once you remove them, massage any of the residual gel into the skin.

Once you’ve removed the two pieces of backing, the masks are like thin pieces of clear jelly which feel so cooling on the skin, due to the liquid within the sachet. Once I’d applied the masks, I noticed that there’s quite a lot of extra fluid in the sachet, so I like to use the remaining fluid on the rest of my face so I don’t waste any. The masks really do feel nice on the skin, especially in the hot weather and they make me feel so relaxed whilst I’m wearing them. I was worried they might slip off once applied as they’re quite wet, but they don’t move around at all so you don’t have to lay down whilst wearing them.

When I remove the jelly-like masks, my skin looks so much smoother with my dryness being instantly minimised. When I used the masks on puffy hayfever eyes, the puffiness was gone when I removed the masks which is amazing. Obviously at £39 a box, they’re not for daily use.. but they’d be great for a weekly treat, or in preparation for a night out or special occasion. I really enjoy using them, and I do see results whenever I use them so I’d love to try some other products within the Rodial Dragons Blood range.

~ The final item is the Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads from Nip+Fab. This is loved by Kylie Jenner

Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads come with 60 pads which is a fantastic thing because if you only use 1 a day then you’ll find these will last you for about 2 months. Each pad has 2 sides one is a raised side for exfoliating and the other side is a smooth side for cleansing, i mostly just use the exfoliating side as i feel they work better this way. In comparison to the Origins Instant Brightening Pads (Review here) the Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Pads are no way as manually exfoliating as the Origins ones because they are much firmer and you get instant results where as with the Nip+Fab ones i find it’s more of a work in progress you see the results over time.

As you can see these pads mainly contain Glycolic Acid which is used to retexturize and resurface your skin whilst the witch hazel in the pads helps to tone the skin, Hyaluronic Acid helps to moisturise the skin while the soothing blue daisy helps to reveal brighter and smoother looking skin.

I really like how acids works on the skin for me they work better than manual exfoliation which tends to leave me a bit red and blotchy whereas with a biological peel they help to exfoliate by removing the dead skin cells and encouraging cell regeneration so they are fab if you have any type of blemish as they will cleanse away any pore blockages and help to keep the area bacteria free as well.

I have found that my skin is looking brighter and my pores arnt giving me as much bother than what they usually do, but my skin still doesn’t look as even as this claims to make it as I still have quite a bit of redness in the centre of my face.

You can also get a free gist with your subscription, a Eco Tools Perfecting Blender Duo (Worth £9.99 in boots) With the code: emmajade17

Pixi Sheer Beauty

I have had some lovely products from Pixi this month, they are their Gel tint and Silk gloss lip products, these are a duo of a stain and then a gloss over the top, these are available in 3 colours. The second lot of items were their cheek stains, these are a sheer gel that comes in 3 shades to.

Sheer Cheek Gel:

I normally use a dry powdered blush that I apply with a brush, so this cheek gel was definitely outside of my normal makeup routine.I applied a small amount of the cheek gel after I applied my foundation and rubbed it in using my fingers. I was surprised how well the gel blended into my foundation giving me a natural looking flush. I found that the moist gel texture gave skin a dewy glow and natural flush more than your typical blush. It lasted on my cheeks all day giving my skin a fresh summer glow. I am so excited to try this gel out some more and possibly layer the different colors. I was then able to apply my powder to set my makeup as normally.

Product Details

This sheer, translucent gel creates a super natural flush of colour – the key to a youthful face. Applies easily with fingers for a fresh & healthy burst of colour on cheeks and lips. Keeps cheeks looking fresh and healthy all day long without the need for any touch ups. Oil free, fragrance free and hypoallergenic. Hydrating, moisturizing and skin-conditioning.

How To-Apply

Blend a small amount into the apples of the cheeks – use a sweeping movement rather than rubbing. Layer under cheek powder or bronzer to extend wear without having to touch up.

I
I was expecting the color to be very bright on my lips because it looked so bold in the bottle especially the bright pink gloss. I was actually kind of relieved when I applied the lip stain because the colours are so natural and perfect for an everyday look. When it comes to my everyday makeup look, I like to keep it simple especially my lips. I usually wear a bright red lipstick when I am taking photos or going to an event. I love these lip sets because you can layer the silk gloss with the lip tint or wear it on its own for a subtle effect. I was surprised how moisturizing the lip gloss was on my lips, and it worked perfectly as a moisturiser with added shine.

Apply tint or gloss onto lips for a quick pick me up or layer first with the tint then top off with the gloss for added dimension

Product Details

• Long-lasting lip tint gives a beautifully stained effect
• Gloss keeps lips hydrated & nourished
• Adds a natural brilliance
• Use separately or layer
• Doesn’t dry lips out, hydrating
• Paraben free
• Not tested on animals

I love these! Especially the gel tint! Plus, it has a subtle peppermint scent to it that is a big yes for me! Since it’s quite on the sheer side, all the available shades suit every type of skin tone. It’s down to how much pop of color you’d like to wear. The most natural/nude shade has to be the Berry Tint and Sweet Gloss combo. For a darker mood, opt for the Beach Tint and Fresh Gloss! But if you’re looking for that pretty pink flush, you definitely have to go for the Pink Tint and Pretty Gloss one.

Mini Superdrug Haul

Today's post is a little different. I have been looking at different tanning products, as always! I have been sticking with my St Tropez Mousse when I want a quick tan. In between I have been loving the gradual tanner from Dove.

I always apply my tan in the evenings and sleep in the guide colour then wash it off in the morning that has been the way that has worked best for me for years. There have been some evenings lately where I have wanted to apply my tan then go out. I feel that I really can't do this with the ST Tropez, as even though it gives me a wonderful colour in the end the guide colour has a greenish tint (I'm not good at rocking the hulk look!) I also find that my skin can be a little dry for the mousse, so I have been wanting to look at more oils. I came across this one from super drug from the sun kissed range. I have to say that this is normally a brand that I would overlook. But it was a good price and looked interesting so I thought I would give it a go. I have to say overall I am impressed. it gives a lovley guide colour and leaves the skin really glowly! The only thing I would say is that it does feel a little greasy but it is an oil so at the same time it is very moisturising. The smell is also a little overpowering when you first apply it, although it is a nice summery almost coco nutty scent.
The tan lasted well to and faded evenly

I also needed to top up on my Revlon foundation this has been a long time everyday favorite of mine . its a great consistency and a fairly good coverage. But is also build able if I need it to be. I also needed to replace my compact powder that I take with me, so I though I would give one from Revlon a go as they were on 3 for 2. I was surprised that this powder has a slight shimmer to it. Thinking that the name is the photo ready one I suppose that I should have realised it would have some sort of shimmer. It is a really good compact still, it comes with a handy brush and a decent sized mirror.

These Revlon products also came with a free lip liner. This is in a lovely nude shade and it a twist one which means no sharper needed, which is always a good plus for me!
